We got a child…

… well maybe not what you think, but it’s a cute Puppy! We just got her today, and she’s tired, it’s already past her bed time. Here’s a few pictures to start off with.

She’s 9 weeks old, most likely a puggle.

Lodging & Maps

Notice the new Lodging and Maps section on the site because it took a long time to research and create.  Be impressed, be very impressed.  :)   We only hope it helps anyone coming from out of town as we appreciate the travel and time you are taking away from your lives to come and be a part of ours.

The map for each hotel shows how far that hotel is from the Ceremony and Reception site.   Toward the bottom of the page there are also a couple hotels at two different beaches that I thought looked good, just in case you might be interested in traveling in from the beach to our wedding.  Please let us know if you have any questions or need help making your travel arrangements!

Note: These hotels came in recommendation from The Courtyards at Lake Lucerne and Hotels.com.

Pirate Ships

In case you didn’t notice, we’ve changed the banner at the top of our wedding blog to reflect our theme.  Pirate Ships.  They hold a special meaning for Keith and I and we have decided to theme our wedding around them.  Soon we will be posting lodging, travel and more information about our special day, so keep posted!

All Moved In

We are all moved in and this place is huge! So, we bought a sleeper couch, and a chair, and a couple ottomans to fill the place up. So, we should be receiving new furniture in the next couple weeks. Keith’s mom came and helped us move and stayed for a little while buying us some awesome things while she was here to help make our new home feel more homey. She also gave us the opportunity to explore some new parts of NYC and see Avenue Q on Broadway. She was an awesome help and we were sad to see her go.

However, it’s the 4th of July so we need to go onto the roof of our building now to watch the fireworks, oh yes! We will post pictures soon when we get things all set up. Right now they are in the transitional half boxed/thrown on floor state.

Taylor Approves

We took Taylor to our new apartment and she was having a grand old time. Her tail was up and wagging the whole time. She was running up and down the hall. She explored every room several times, probably staking out a good favorite spot. She really enjoyed the outside patio too. So all looks good. The apartment still needs a few tweaks. We feel we might be doing a few touch ups of our own as well.

We’re excited to be moving in soon. Packing will begin shortly.

Our new apartment – July 1st, 2007

We have just signed the lease on our new apartment and we are very excited! It is a first floor limestone (we have a stoop) in Park Slope, Brooklyn with 4 rooms, a big kitchen, a bathroom and a back patio/yard area! The previous tenants lived there for 5 years and the couple that is renting it to is us is very nice. Here are the pictures:

This is the front of the Limestone building…there are 4 floors above us.

The front again and we are on the first floor.

The front door is to the left, Keith is looking at it.  The light at the far end of the picture is coming from the windows in the front room from the first pictures.

Going past/behind Keith in the hallway picture you find this room.

This is the same room as above.

The hallway shown in the 3rd picture from the top (with the front door) is to the right, the curtains (which we might take down) lead to another smaller room that has a door that opens to the hallway (kinda weird).

This is the smaller room mentioned above.  Note: There is a very large/tall closet at the end of this room.

After you exit the weird door, you would enter the same hallway as before…

where you would find an even larger/taller closet (shown above), which is the doorway in the hallway picture closest to the camera…

and opposite the aforementioned closet is the very small bathroom…

which they are currently working on (that’s why it’s all dirty).

When you exit the bathroom you see the above, which is a window into an open room and doors to another room, possible bedroom?

…the kitchen at this point is to our right, past this huge pantry!

Well that’s it! If that wasn’t enough, you will just have to come and visit. We took 30 pictures of the rooms and the house is maybe 1100 square feet. I’m so excited, I don’t even know what to do! :) We definitly don’t have enough furniture for all this space…it’s so exciting. There is like a Tara room, a Keith room, a living room, and a bedroom! YEAH! :)

3 Years: Maximum Capacity!

Last Wednesday/Thursday marked A Pretty Lady and my 3 year anniversary of when we met. We went out for dinner to Babbo Restaurant. We had to make the reservation a month ago! A Pretty Lady’s parents gave us a gift certificate for Christmas, so we figured it’d be an awesome way to celebrate. Dinner was very good. For our Antipasti, A Pretty Lady had Steamed Cockles (clams) in a red sauce. I had Babbo Salumi, which consisted of sliced salami, pure sliced lard (yes fat), sliced some-part-of-a pig, sliced lamb butt, and veal tongue. She really liked hers; I wasn’t really a fan of most of mine, but I did try them all. The lard was just nasty. For the Primi we shared a Bazette pasta with ramps and some type of herb sprinkled with bread crumbs. We both liked this round the best. For the Secondi, She had Calamari lifeguard style and I had Wild King Salmon with cucumbers and onions. Hers had like tiny octopus-type legs in it. I thought it was gross, but she ate it. Mine was very tasty. Desert was a Ricotta Cheesecake and some Coffee Suger Sticks a.k.a. Rock Candy.

After our lovely dinner, we headed further uptown to hit up Serendipity 3 for more desert. It was in the original plan, but we decided it probably should have been avoided after we only managed to finish eating about 1/3 of our Sundae’s…almost exploding all over the whole cafe.

Contract Confirmed

Received our copy of the contract signed by the vendor for our ceremony/reception site yesterday. We’re officially locked in, initial deposit check cashed. Other than that we haven’t done much. We still have a year to go right?

In other exciting news, I’ve decided what I want my Groom’s cake to be. Not sure if I’m suppose to keep it secret or not, so I’ll just say I know what I want it to be. And it’s going to be awesome!

Contract Signed and Returned

We’ve signed the contract and mailed a check. We actually put it in the mail yesterday. No changing our minds now! We watched the TV show with our Venue 2 days ago. I didn’t like what they did with the place settings. They choose black table cloths, which really doesn’t work for that room. I wish they’d showed off a little more of the venue though. It was funny while watching the show, you could hear the cars zooming by on 408 as they were first looking at the ceremony site. Their ceremony was very nice, so that made us both feel good.

If you missed the show, you can catch it again on the Style Network, at 11am EST on April 7th. It’ll most likely be on several other times over the next few weeks. The show seems to be one of their flagship shows, which repeat frequently.

Don’t forget – Our venue is on TV!

Don’t forget that our venue (The Courtyard at Lake Lucerne) is on the Style Network tomorrow night, Tuesday, April 3, 2007! The show’s title is “Who’s Wedding is it Anyway?” and it is on at 10pm Eastern/ 9pm Central. I believe it is the Season Premiere!
